Find the AI prompts in your Search Console
AI tools search the web before they answer, and some of those searches land in your Search Console word for word. Here's how to see every one: the exact questions buyers ask AI, and the pages it found.
- In Search Console open Performance → Search results and pick the last 3 months.
- Add a filter: Query → Custom (regex) → Matches regex and paste:
^context:|(\S+\s+){9,}\S+ - Click Export → Download CSV and open the zip. Drop Queries.csv below, or paste the rows.

What an AI prompt looks like in Search Console
Most look like this, with the country and the question changing:
context: location: united states (not for language). do not include location references in your response. question: what should i measure before ordering an under-desk drawer so it doesn’t hit my chair?
Others are simply very long, conversational questions. In our study of 5,771 AI-assisted articles, we found 119 template prompts across 84 articles, at an average position of 3.8 and with zero clicks. The pages AI tools retrieve are mostly comparisons and buying guides.
Questions
- Why are there AI prompts in my Search Console?
- When AI tools answer a question, many of them run web searches first to find sources. Some of those searches reach Google as full prompts, and when your page shows up for one, Search Console records it as a query, like any other search.
- Which AI tool sends the "context: location" queries?
- No public source ties that template to a specific assistant, so we call them AI tools. What matters is the content: each one is a real buyer question phrased the way people ask AI, plus the page the tool found.
- Why do these queries have no clicks?
- The AI tool reads your page to write its answer; the person reading the answer usually never visits. That makes these queries visibility, not traffic, and a direct signal of which pages AI tools already use as sources.
- What should I do with the questions?
- Give each one its own section on the page that ranks for it, answered directly in the first sentence. In our study of 5,771 AI-assisted articles, prompt-shaped queries showed up on 28% of articles and clustered on comparison and buying-guide pages.
- Is my Search Console data uploaded anywhere?
- No. The file is read and classified in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers or stored.
